DJIWARR
“From the Sky, the Story Reveals Itself” DJWARR, meaning “looking down from the sky,” redefines the boundaries of Indigenous storytelling through the bold integration of cutting-edge technology. Here, Quilliam ascends—both literally and metaphorically—using drone photography and videography to access perspectives once reserved for the ancestral gaze. From above, the land speaks differently. Songlines—ancient pathways of story, memory, and movement—emerge as vast, intricate compositions etched into the terrain. What appears abstract from the ground becomes narrative from the sky. Patterns, journeys, and connections reveal themselves in sweeping, cinematic form. This series is a convergence of the ancient and the contemporary: a cultural cartography rendered through innovation. DJWARR positions Quilliam not only as an artist, but as a visual translator of Country—bridging millennia of knowledge with the technologies of now. This work offers an immersive, almost otherworldly experience—one that invites audiences to reconsider perspective, scale, and the evolving language of Indigenous art in a digital age.
